 I want to share with you the wedding planning cycle!

Brides typically go through five phases over the course of the engagement.

Phase One: ENGAGED! You buy every magazine out there and become overwhelmed with the prospect of all the colors, ideas, and other choices.

Phase Two: The planning process starts. It's fun! Your friends and family are interested. Strangers in line at the grocery store know you're getting married and before they leave the checkout they know your colors and number of bridesmaids. The whole world is happy for you!

Phase Three: Anarchy in the ranks. Why does your mother think hydrangeas aren't appropriate? Why do your bridesmaids think they can pick out their dresses?

Phase Four: The wedding wall. "I have plenty of time, the wedding is months away." You believe things will all work out, you just need a break from the planning for a couple of weeks.

Phase Five: "Oh my gosh! The wedding is almost here!" You panic that there's not enough time to individually hand-stamp all the cocktail napkins or make all the favors! Help!

Back to reality- think about what you may have to do- take a deep breath!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When You Start.......
You have to call and interview the photographer, the videographer, the ceremony site, the officiant, the bakery, the florist, the salon, the transportation company, the reception halls, the DJ or band- remembering the time allotments for each vendor, put the deposits down, sign the contracts, ask close family members if they are willing to pitch in, and for what. Register for gifts and *Make a Wedding Website!* (the website is very important, I will get to that later), select bridesmaids, groomsman, flower girl and ring bearer (if needed), ask around to close family if they are willing to help with certain tasks, start looking at dresses, think about (and possibly book) your honeymoon, etc. If leaving the country get your passports.
Next.....
Make guest list drafts (if close family is pitching in they should be allowed to have a little bit of a say in your list, select invitations, find bridesmaid dresses, groomsman tuxes, double check with the hired companies (ESPECIALLY the reception!), Purchase YOUR DRESS and accessories, decorations, favors, rentals, cakes, pick your wedding songs, assign seating if needed, revisit the venues to keep the floorplans, walkways, and more fresh to help you decide where the headtable, cake table, gift table and more would look best, track down the final guestlist names, numbers, addresses. Assemble invitations, send them out (ALWAYS take them to the post office for correct postage just incase!), buy wedding rings, guestbook, more decorations!
Lastly.....(2 weeks-month before)
Track down the people who did not RSVP (because people sometimes forget), go out with the girls,  get to the salon if you're getting your hair and make up done, (there should always be a 'practice session' with your head piece and veil so there are no fumbles on game day), if you have a special song in mind for your ceremony, get the sheet music for the music ensemble, get your final gown fitting and get it steamed the day before so there are no wrinkles. Create bullet timeline schedules for each member of your wedding party and family that has agreed to help. Finish assembling favors Then (as I found out the hard way when I got married 9 years ago) both the church and the reception site might not allow you to decorate or set up until the day of the wedding!!!! NOW your job is to get EACH of the companies you hired on an absolute and exact timetable, and to make sure they all know where they are going! Double check that what you wanted is still written down and set in stone. You DO NOT want the flowers come in the wrong color or have the photographer show up as you're walking back down the aisle already married because he got lost!  Give a final headcount to the reception hall, get your marriage license, gather paperwork for changing your last name (if you are), gather all decorations, hand out the timelines, have rehursal and dinner, start decorating if allowed. SLEEP........and THEN the BIG DAY is here!
